Overview
Camp Siku (Kiswahili for “day”) formerly known as “Summer Day Camp at the YMCA.” All of the activities that will take place during the summer are based on a weekly theme. It is the goal of this group to expose the campers to a variety of activities and experiences daily. In doing so, the activities will provide a level of supervision and structure that will offer many different challenges during the week. All summer long, camp runs from 6:30am until 6:00pm. Camp Siku is a DHS licensed facility.
Field Trips
There are also local and out of town field trips. There is a field trip permission slip in the camp registration packet—this permission slip states that the YMCA is allowed to transport your child to the Lawton Family YMCA for swim time ONLY. Weekly field trips will each require their own permission slips since each field trip varies significantly. No child will be allowed to leave on a field trip without the proper permission form for each trip signed by a parent or legal guardian. FIELD TRIP COSTS ARE INCLUDED IN THE CAMP REGISTRATION COST FOR 2012 - *Refunds/Discounts will not be given for field trips that your camper misses.
Camp Themes
Camp projects, games, crafts, and activities are all based around a central theme each week. While some activities, like swimming, will always remain the same, other activities like the art projects and field trips, will change each week depending on the theme.
